A Story of Resilience, Reinvention, and Service
Born and raised in Metro Detroit, Brain Waskiewicz has lived a life defined by resilience, reinvention, and service. After graduating high school in 1981, he joined the United States Air Force before embarking on a diverse professional journey. From working for Detroit Edison and Ford Motor Company to obtaining his real estate license in 1989, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own real estate office in 1995.
Recognized for his innovation, Brian was featured on the cover of REALTOR® magazine in June 2000, highlighted in a Fox 2 News story in 1997, and made the front page of a local newspaper's real estate section in 1998 for pioneering a high-tech real estate office. Throughout his career, he has held five professional designations and remained actively involved in the Board of REALTORS®.
Life, however, took unexpected turns. In 2005, he faced personal and financial hardships, including bankruptcy in 2006. But in 2007, he started over, proving that adversity is not the end—it's a new beginning. He built a wellness center in Plymouth, Michigan, and continued giving back in profound ways. In 2016 he started yet another chapter in his life applying his people skills and passion for automobiles as a car salesman. Over the next several years working for Honda, Kia, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac dealerships. Even though had success in this industry he quickly realized that he was not cut out for the competitive car sales business. Returning to real estate and construction which is where his passion has always been.
A dedicated volunteer, Brian Waskiewicz has been an advocate for the American Cancer Society for 28 years, supporting Real Men Wear Pink, an active member of Kiwanis International, and a past president of the Kiwanis Club in Livonia, Michigan. His philanthropic work extends to Gleaners Food Banks, Kids Against Hunger, Habitat for Humanity, World Vision, and his church, where he was a greeter, and participated in food packaging initiatives to combat global hunger.
But perhaps his most extraordinary act of giving came in 2019 when he donated a kidney to a complete stranger—an ultimate testament to his belief in selfless service and the power of human connection.
Today, Brian shares his story as a professional speaker, inspiring audiences with his journey of perseverance, reinvention, and generosity. His message: No matter what life throws at you, there’s always an opportunity to rise, rebuild, and give back.
